Simple supported steps to ensure success.
Whether it’s a behavior habit or a thought habit, you will be guided toward simple steps that wire it in. With support, you will repeat it for 45 days and then celebrate your success.
Starting in January, we will meet online on Saturday for 8 weeks– that’s 45 days plus a week before and after. We’ll set goals before, we’ll take action for 45 days with the help of homework and group support, and then we’ll honor our progress. Tuition is $299, which includes:
- private 15-minute sessions with Dr. Breuning before & after
- 8 one-hour weekly group meeting on Zoom on a Saturday
- Facebook group for support with weekly homework

Here’s how it will work:
Step One:
Your 15-minute individual session with Dr. Breuning helps you target the new thought or behavior habit you truly want. You define your goals and priorities, while Dr. Breuning helps you break it into do-able steps that you will surely accomplish. We’ll have our session on Zoom at a mutually convenient time in January. For best results, read Habits of a Happy Brain before. (Most of you have, I know, but for those who don’t love reading, you will find it upbeat and liberating.)
Step Two:
Our first group session will be on Saturday January 25 2020 at 10am Pacific/Los Angeles Time (1pm Eastern/New York, 6pm GMT/London) on Zoom. The sessions will be recorded for your convenience (I pledge not to use it for any other purpose). You will express your desired habit in words and enjoy the group’s respect. You will express respect for the cherished goals of others (and enjoy that too!). You will get your first weekly homework assignment.
Step Three:
For 45 days, you will repeat behaviors that wire in your new habit. The homework helps you find ways to make it fun, so you get short-run dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphin while you take steps that are good for you in the long run. In these 6 weekly group sessions, you will report your accomplishments, challenges, and insights in the context of the weekly homework, and enjoy the reports of others. A Facebook discussion group will be available for extra daily support. You are always free to decide how much you want to share.
Step Four:
Our final group session on March 7 is your time to celebrate. Your old circuits will still be there, but your electricity will have a new place to flow. Your new habit will feel natural and normal. Any lingering frustrations become the target of your next rewiring project! As you listen to the experiences of others, you will build a deeper appreciation of your inner mammal.
Step Five:
Your final individual session with Dr. Breuning helps you target new thought and behavior habits that you can build onto the circuits you have. Our happy chemicals are not designed to flow all the time, but you can access them in new and healthy ways.
